To a certain extent I think people in general are getting sick of PvP alone and its interesting that a game like the new Wolfenstein has announced no PvP. Single player should always be more important than multi-player and I have always disliked this drive to turn everything into multi player that has been happening for some years now.

I don't mind the single player experience with added optional multi player elements like the upcoming the Division or even like Dark Souls with various types of invasions from other players but out and out PvP is boring as hell.

I agree wholehearedly with this post. A human who gets it. I have played more PvP in my life than I care to admit-I got fed up with Black Ops 2 and since playing Defiance I know I'm over it. I've had friends invite me to play BO2 and I won't. I have no desire to play that crap anymore. I will probably play it in Killzone when it's released and if I can get the PS4 because I had a lot of real fun playing it in Killzone 2 and 3. CoD, I'm done with that pile of Shtako.

The best PvP experiences I have had have been in games where it was unusual. And you mentioned one of them. Dark Souls. I played Demon's Souls first and anyone who thinks they know all there is to know about PvP needs to play Demon's or Dark Souls, well maybe wait and play Dark Souls 2 when it comes out. These games make you experience some of what it might really feel like to have to fight other people-because other random people can invade your PvE game even at the worst times for you (fighting some nasty foes) and there's nothing like it. You will feel fear and so on. Fantastic experience.

The one thing was that Demon's Souls did have some environments that I found more scary than any in Dark Souls and dying in Demon's Souls had far worse penalties that in Dark Souls, but both were fantastic experiences. I hated them at first and got a nasty surprise the first time I was invaded in Demon's Souls-I didn't know what was happening.

Straight up PvP is just not fun for me anymore. I'd rather coop a million times than do PvP as it is.

I never even equipped them or held them in my inventory; they all went straight to salvage, and I still got hit with the glitch.

The problem is simply that nothing in the results screen worked correctly. They can't count kills, they can't count revives, and nothing got added to your pursuit totals correctly. It's a complete joke. I used to do one revive, get credit on the results screen for forty-something, and none would be added to my pursuits. I've come in first in a major arkfall with a couple of million damage and one kill when I knew that I had killed a fair number of hellbugs that had simply wandered between me and my actual target, to say nothing of the ones I'd shot on purpose.
I agree. People kept telling me I wasn't getting kills because I used cluster grenades (but I wasn't), or ground pounders (I wasn't), or rocket launchers (I wasn't), and so on. I agree with you here-the game cannot count. I've seen it too many times in too many circumstances to just think it's a onetime thing. And if it can't count in one instance, then I have no reason to believe it's totally accurate anywhere. And I have to laugh (not out of ridicule) when someone gets excited about being number 1-I've been there when I deserved to be but I've been there many times when I didn't, and sometimes I haven't been when I know I deserved to be at least near it.

The truth is the scoreboard does not accurately record revives (it's also messed up because in one place the amount of damage done is listed as revives), kills, damage, assists, or just about anything it should.

The game doesn't accurately record contract kills (for the stuff you have to get). I've done Kenn Farms for rioters and blasters so many times I see them in my sleep. I can count. The game can't. 15 comes after 14 except when the game wants you to restart the Kenn mission again and save those darned ranchers.

And blastpods. Yeah, ok if the game says I need 15, it really means 20.

PvP-Rescue kills, Avenger kills, EGO kills, turret kills, defense kills, attack kills, and kills-the game requires that you do more of these for the contracts than what the contract says.

I've finished the main story mission, but I have maybe 1 or 2 PVP kills since day 1; I get my *** kicked regularly in PVP. I'm not the first one to say it, but some kind of ranked PVP would be great, so I could jump in without fear of being totally overpowered by more expreienced players.

Of course waiting for a "newbie PVP" match to fill up might take even longer than they do now.

Another idea I like that many others have said is to have at least one PVP map that disallows all EGO and maybe perks also. No cloak, blur, overcharge, etc. That way everyone would be on a more equal footing at the start.

FYI: I've never done PvP of any kind before Defiance.

I pretty much knew the death matches weren't going to be my thing after a couple tries, but I was hoping Shadow Wars would be more about tactics and actually stalking other players, maybe form some quick tactics as the match launched, etc. Nope. Was pretty much just a death match in the open world.

I always thought it would be pretty cool if the teams were given a task, say, collect X-amount of objects, then have these placed within enemy NPC territories. So, you're having to compete to see which team will collect the most X, having to fight NPCs as well as looking out for the opposing team. Once you collect these things, you have to take them back to your base for it to register. If someone kills you on the way back, or if they ambush you during an NPC skirmish, they'll be able to grab the item that person is carrying.

You'd need people protecting your base, send out teams to collect items, maybe have some healers to try and keep those members alive, and drivers who could take the objects back to the base. Even have a small team to run interference against the other team. Matches could last 30 minutes to an hour. Change up home bases and where items are located every match.

It would be nice to have something that would accommodate a variety of roles, playstyles and EGO builds. I could be a sniper on the home base, be a healer out with a team, a driver, a soldier out collecting things, etc.

(I've not had my coffee yet, so pardon if this sounds ridiculous.)

For someone who cries major foul towards any idea to nerf the infectors wants to nerf cloak to a stand still? In a way that would effect the power in the PvE side of things. You are pro infector in what it stands for but against cloak?

    Anyway..

    Simple solution to fix cloak.

    1. If a player is cloaked and shoots their gun they pop up on radar like everyone else. It good enough we get to run around invisible.

    2. If a player is cloaked and gets shot/attacked then the time to recloak is increased by alot. We are playing the stealth role of being cloaked/invisible. If we get caught while being invisible (as crazy as that may sound) then we were not being stealth now were we? Its a stealth power and it should be played as such in a way it makes us think to pick our kill shots and not want to give away our position. Not this crap *I drive my quad into a group of guys, jump off, cloak, and start shooting my shotgun off.* <that's not stealth.

Cloak needs tweaks to be balanced.

There are counters to cloaking (perk enhancing Decoy, Infectors, indirect damage, etc), but I can't say for certain that any of these actually help, as I'm basically saving the worst for last Pursuit-wise.

I think the only enticement that pvp really needs is a restructured reward system. Losing side is essentially receiving the same thing as the winning side and I don't think that's right. Spoils go to the victors, losers get to go home and have mommy make them a snack >.>

Seriously though, I would love to see a 5+ key influx to the winning side and a 1 - 3 hundo % increase in xp for the winning side with the losing side taking a 40% decrease in xp. Rewarding ppl just for showing up creates a less than enthusiastic player base. Why try if you'll just get what the winning side got, ya' know?

From playing with friends, I have heard this more than anything. I have zero friends who play Defiance that will PVP because they are hammered on.

I suggested ranked and unranked matches before here and think they hould offer rewards. PVP is end game material and as many of you said, won't play it because it is too COD and BF-like.

Clan/alliance wars, clan alliances, clan bases, clan rewards. Basically, a sense of clan ownership over something tangible. A mere scoreboard/ladder does not count IMO.

nothing can convince me to... even if it means that i will never get 5000 ego. It broken and has no real value to it except for the pursuits. in a way, it punishing you by not letting you get max ego or complete all the pursuits unless you play PvP.

It reminds me of games that have Multiplayer Achievements/Trophies, forcing you to play it in order to get 1000 Gamerscore/Platinum
