This fight was exceptionally fun and challenging and very rewarding after beating it in a total of about 2.5 hours. My general setup was very simple, I didnt put much care into selecting my perks, I used a couple EGO recharge perks and a couple damage reduction perks and my EGO power was Blur. For shields I was using a purple quality Tachyon Reloader III DX (1362/70%/9.6). My grenade was a Pyrocharge Ex-22W which honestly did little to nothing from what Ive noticed. As for weapons my main was the VOT Spanner Protector BMG and a VOT Tecmag Pulser SMG, both are Blue quality and neither had mods. My BMG skill was completely virgin but wound up at almost 3 by the time I was finished.

The only part of the fight that gave me difficulty was the first phase, I tried literally everything in my arsenal (I have at least one of every type of weapon at least Blue quality, most Purple, a couple Orange) before I tried using the BMG. The big problem I had was poor reaction time and not being able to dodge the projectiles and mostly his Charge attacks. As soon as I pulled that BMG out I broke into Phase two which only took me two attempts, and I only died because Ive got a newborn child at home that needed attention (little bastard). Blur came into handy here when his clones would spawn above and charge the sword throw move, Id take a couple out hoping to get him, if I didnt after two or three Id hit Blur and run for it so the sword projectile didnt hit. Phase three I got on the first attempt. I just humped a pillar zapping him with the BMG, then switching to the SMG when he spawned the crystals so I could take those out and I finished him in no time.

Anyways I hope my experiences helps someone take this guy out, if even one person uses my strategy to help take him down then all of this typing was worth it.

I think that covers it. Nim is hard to beat. I don't care what anyone says. He's tough and it's a great feeling beating him. If you have defeated him, hold your head high. It is a great accomplishment. You should celebrate with a cigar and a beer.
Agreed. I think it's silly for anyone to suggest Nim is easy. He can be easier but it's all too easy to make one mistake and eat the pavement. Essentially, you have to always be one step ahead of him and using a Northstar Flare is not at all a simple task. What it does when it hits its mark is great damage and the tick damage helps like pyro grenades when they're working, to keep track of him. Using an Infector Grenade give you something with a homing capability.

I think the only real strategy with him is to always know where he is or where he's attacking and be somewhere else.

Yea, I got one or two of those on MY thread about him :/

I did get him though, yesterday. One of the most difficult bosses I've faced in years. Last time I had that much fun, it was Jack's upgrade in The Lost Chapters of Fable 1.

These days it's mostly "Boss has a crap ton of health".

I finally beat Nim last night and did not ever expect to, since my highest PVP kill count is 5 including assists. (I don't PVP much). I'm looking to pay it forward by offering up my 'build' to the community.

I used a purple Hurricane Charger IV EX (capacity 1095, recharge rate 70%, delay 6 seconds, and take 8% less damage while recharging), a VOT Tachmag Pulser with syphon and Outlaw synergy (but no mods attached so I don't know if +5% damage on the last shot in the clip triggers) and a VBI TACC Auto-shotgun with fire (although I rarely switched to this weapon).

Someone asked about the Infector Grenade being overpowered....I really don't know, but I did so much better using that to cover my backside as I ran away to put distance between us. Nim does not appear to notice Infector bugs. The bugs might also have helped clear out the holo-clones in the second stage since they jump over/around the barriers.

My EGO power was Overcharge. I've heard mixed things about Decoy, and I've rarely used the other two to attempt Nim. My perks were Fortitude, Thick Skinned, Cellular Armor, Regeneration, and Self Medicated.

I think having to beat nim 3 times is a little much especially since he has ego powers you don't .i could Feel the arkfalls passing me by and the vendor deals. I realize the boss battles have to be challenging but when you have to beat a boss more than twice it's not only cliche but kind of silly when you had a clear chance to jelly his head after the second time so my strategy is to try different equipment combos quit go earn some salvage and come back and try again since someone thinks we have what we need to best him i just hope he's not like the motherlode boss i had five different groups on that one and everyone kept giving up so i finally did for now anyway.

I've only killed this Fight once and it took me 3 tries (the first 2 tries I suicided because I ran out of ammo - to be told later after I killed it that there's ammo in the room lmao - I figured that was just the gimmik). I don't feel like I did anything special - it's just like I always told my raiders, "don't get in a hurry and just keep doing mechanics."

The Fight's pretty simple two phases that require dodge and LOS. I used a SAW and a BMG (because it doesn't require ammo lol). I also used Stealth with any talents I had to reduce the CD or down time. I was only around 500-600 ego but I used that tactic for the whole story line anyway so I didn't need to respec or tailor my spec in any additional way (I actually hadn't even figured out that you could do that).

Basically all you need to do is keep an LOS spot close (the bump in the wall where the room splits works along with pillars), and dodge when needed (remember there is no dodge CD so you can dodge back to back). Then whenever you have an opening put some damage on him. If things get hairy use the BMG for HP, and stealth to give you time to get your mojo back and reengage - rinse repeat.

I hope this helps and GL!

Defeated Nim on the first try (yeah me)... wasn't easy though.... used a Saw for part of the first round, damaged him extensively, then used my VOT Spanner the rest of the time to kill him & heal me.... took awhile but was fun..... don't want to do it again though....

Just beat Nim last night (technically this morning at 3:30AM >.<) and I have to say the fight itself was not that difficult. What ended up killing me a HUGE number of times however was the knock back that would knock me near one of the pillars where I would end up stuck in the terrain until I died. (third round when he has the glowy dragon look)

As a result in the first two fights I ended up killing him using a sniper rifle, and the energy/healing device. This being so that I could heal myself, and use it to follow him as I run around. (I tend to use the heal gun as my secondary weapon all the time only changing primaries) That being said, I ended up using my sniper rifle until I ran out towards the end of the second round of the fight. And in the end I used a purple shot gun, running him around pillars and hiding behind them when he did his special attacks since it would stop all damage. At which point I would come around and shotgun him until he finally died.

Overall I have to say it was satisfying to finish the fight but it's honestly I think one of the longest boss battles I've ever put up with, and honestly kind of infuriating at times! While it was fun I don't think I'll be doing it again soon. haha

I also made extensive use of my cloak to run away and regenerate when I needed a small break in the action and wanted to get away from his spam. Finally I also used the bio grenade so that the bugs would follow him around so I could just throw it and forget it. Plus the bugs also acted as a bit of a distraction as well giving one room to breath.
