You assume they were paying attention. They press the button as soon as they die and don't worry about the screen again until they've rezzed.
Exactly. And fairly often, the screen is a complete white-out on death. I think lots of people simply hit the button by reflex if self-revive is available, even before they can see if anyone is around them or not. Which is fine, it's their choice. I've even done this myself in certain situations in order to minimize downtime and especially if I'm down from something I know is also very likely to kill anyone trying to get to me right then. (ie. death by multiple blastpod/archer targeting.)

Self-rez is clearly an intentional part of the game mechanic, with various perks and weapon bonuses related to it, and people are going to use it when it's available. I try to rez people who are downed whether it's a major or not, provided I can secure the spot well enough that we won't both get dropped again as I'm doing it. And when I'm down I usually try to give it several seconds to see if anyone is looking to rez me, and thank them if they do.

But I'm sure we've all been lying there and been trampled like a doormat, because people are busy targeting something to rack up their kills/dmg. Or possibly because they're one of the people who've flat-out said "once I'm done with this pursuit I'm never reviving anyone ever again". Either way, people can use what's available to them, and I think it's a mistake to approach it with the idea that other people are somehow obligated to stay down because they "owe" me a chance to add a rez to my total. It's not a race, it's a journey. We'll all get to 100 eventually, just from reviving who we can.

I get myself up for the sheer fact that 9 times out of ten I'm laying there for 5min. + before anybody gets me. And that's if they do at all. I've gone down surrounded by 30 people before and laid there 10 min, they broke the crystal and took off to the next one and left me there. I got tired of waiting on people. Besides the pursuit is easy. Just go to an arkfall with a friend and have them kill themselves over and over while you get them up. Can do the entire 100 in 1 arkfall.

Because I'm not playing the game to help you. I don't care about your pursuits.

If I drop, and I have a self revive, I'm using it.

Here's a simple guide to help you rack up more revive in arkfall :
1- Equip either an Ironclad or a Hurricane shield, Blur and perks and/or synergies that makes Blur recharge faster + last longer. No particular weapon required.
2- Drive around until you find a Major Arkfall where you have to kill a Mature Hellbug Hellion (the flying hellbug boss).
3- Help out the other players kill the hellbugs. Once the MHH show up, follow the next step.
4- Activate Blur, look for a large group of players standing near the MHH and wait for it to do a ground slam in the middle of that group, sending everyone nearby flying and badly hurt. While active, Blur makes you immune to knockdown/knock back effects.
5- Run next to a badly hurt player (he's still laying down or he's getting up) and try to piss off the MHH (shoot it with a fast firing weapon like a SMG) to make it spit acid blobs at you. The acid blob can also damage players near the impact point.
6- Getting hit by an acid blob right after a painful ground slam should be enough to kill a player. Start reviving the other player quickly and he might refrain from using his self-revive.

You should still try to help out the other players while waiting for the MHH to show up again though.

And even then I would use decoy and be away from people that are trying that type of shtako.

Self revive is cool in that when perks are helping it recharge faster, you can get your setup just right so that your MHH doesn't actually knock my shields off and all I use is a simple Respark Regenerator. Even when situations get really bad, either self revive is there or I'm in a healer form and self healing myself. Pays to use the load outs and perks...

In the end, the only way to be sure you get your silly pursuit done is to have a group willing to stand to the side and let you get your revives. Others, including myself, don't play the ark fall events trying to get others revives or even to fill our own. We do the ark falls for fun, and so forth.

I also prefer the respark regenerators and use them pretty much all of the time but players trying this method should use one of the 9.6 recharge shield at first to learn about the MHH's attack patterns (where it's more likely to ground slam, when it's going to spit, etc) and see how large the acid blob's blast radius is. That extra 500 shield is often enough to outlive respark-users when "performing" the slam-spit combo but you're free to use any sort of shield once you got the hang of it.

I did this for a while but decided to get the rest of the revives through normal arkfall gameplay.

You can also just cruise the Mount Tam ark falls. It also helps if you go to an ark fall knowing all you're doing is reviving. Oh, and don't kill anything while you're there. Especially when the blastpods start popping up. Don't kill them and wait for the others to get dropped. I revived the same guy 4 times during an ark fall because he'd used his self-revive and couldn't get away from the archers and pods.

Honestly, just get the revives from normal ark fall game play as it isn't the destination that matters, but the journey getting there. I'm tired of seeing people rushing to try to get 100 revives of other players and then complaining when people self revive. As I said before, I and I know others use perks that are for self reviving, either increasing the recharge rate of self revive through the "Self-Medicated" perk or using self revives to recharge shields for the groups that the person is in, or even the "Unfinished Business" perk where you revive yourself increases your damage of your next shot, etc.

Because that pursuit which apparently constitutes as "content" is just awful. Why should any player intentionally punish themselves in order for somebody else to be rewarded? If the option is available I'm going to use it. I'm not playing games to enable terrible achievement grinds for other players.

I hope that was precise enough. The whole concept is bad and no player should be looked at negatively for not wanting to contributing to it.
