Trion, you’re still not playing Defiance?

All of a sudden you’re posting like mad under the “Community” page with general information but nothing that really communicates anything to us?

I LOVE this game but I’m bored to tears. This is a social game I play with friends but the same old thing over and over and over again is just too hard to keep up. Thanks for helping me catch up with some old friends on my FL but we're starting to play other games now.

When I’m not bored I’m frustrated with the issues and lack of communication regarding said issues. Anyone with any common sense in your offices is telling you the same thing. Listen to them!!

Like I said, I love Defiance but it won't be in my 360 this weekend and I know I'm not alone. Figure it out. To be clear, figure it out and take action.

    Thanks.

    /rant

Even the forums have begun to devolve. There's more talk of XB one vs PS4 and outages from XBL than about Defiance and the surrounding gameplay. I really hope something changes and does so quickly or I fear there won't be much of a community for long.

There never will be a true community until nay sayers and those who post positively come together and realise that we're all on the same boat here. It's expected to have talk going on about the next gen consoles though, but the whole console aspect is just dumb.. in my opinion at least. At the end of the day they still do the same thing and I am not getting into a discussion or debate about this. The attacks on XBL today were more or less on the xbox specific part of the forums so, that's to be expected as well really. In fact, if it wasn't for those threads on here I wouldn't have become aware of the attacks at all.

Anyway, I'll get back to my point about there not being a genuine community. We have negativity in one corner, positivity in the other and reason in the middle. Now, with this equation nothing will be achieved because each one is dragging the other down and holding everyone back in general. Looking at it from a neutral standpoint. The ones who post negatively clearly stay up to date on the issues revolving around the game either by playing it despite their words or frequently checking up on it - this meaning they do want the game to become good, just they're going about it a certain way. I'm not saying that negativity is necessarily a bad thing. But when it doesn't hold any weight behind in regards to constructive criticism that's when it becomes more of a hinderance than a... 'passionate' request.

Then you have positivity. Yes everyone likes getting their ego boosted every now and then. There's nothing wrong with that either, but when it disregards certain issues it does just as bad as the first point. How? By saying everything is fine, when it isn't necessarily fine. Kind of kicking it under the rug sort of approach. When it's genuine positivity and not just blind support it helps boost the atmosphere of the community and makes it appear more friendlier to those who are just getting into the forums (or any forum for that matter) and that just spins around in a cycle over and over.

Now, with reason in the equation. This is basically a hybrid of the first two. This is what would help propel Defiance in a general direction.

For those who say, the game is bad, it's this, that and the other. 'We have to buy bits etc.' How else do you expect a game that is essentially B2P and then F2P once you've bought it to survive? There needs to be money coming in from somewhere and that's where these aspects come into play. I'm not saying that you should or even have to buy anything but it would help out a bit rather than just saying 'Yknow, what? Why bother, it'll just fix itself eventually' No it won't.

If you've already spent your money on the game you could attempt to boost the game in some way or another rather than not only waste your own time/money (which is pretty much what those sort do) but also those who take the time to read their threads and respond to them. Who benefits out of that? Answer me that question - no one.

To those that are finding the game boring as it stands right now due to having nothing to do. Please take into consideration what I'm about to say next. When the DLC comes take baby steps or even just play it at your leisure rather than speeding through it. You're going to get to the end of eventually man, trust me. If you do choose to run through it well.. that's your decision at the end of the day. Fair play if you choose to do so, but you are going to find yourself in the same position when you get to the end and then have nothing 'new' to do.

So what you're saying then is to people who get the DLC is: Don't play this as often as you want because you'll get bored?

I think you just lent credence to the argument that this game when compared to others "like it" (i use that term loosely) have the content that stimulates and lets people play as much as they want without feeling bored.

There is one thing about staying positive and people should be however let's not live in a fantasy world that Defiance is a content master.

New Content equals data recorder hunts and final missions that force you out of groups and into solo mode.

The onus is on Trion to make rich compelling content that keeps us invigorated, NOT the player to take "baby steps" in the game they purchased.
