Griefing vs not knowing

This is true. It takes just as long and sometimes longer if you just stand there and wait for the bug to bite the thing. In that time, I can do just as much damage and sometimes more to the crystal just by shooting at it, than I can by waiting to shoot at the bitten part. With a SAW (just an example though we're talking about detonators and launchers), I might do 800 damage in a bit spot, but I'm waiting for the spot to occur and I have to run to the right spot to shoot. If I just focus much of my attention on shooting the crystal, I do maybe 71 damage repeatedly-in a few seconds I've done more than 800 damage and I'm not waiting or aiming at any particular spot. With AoE weapons it's just a matter of how fast can you shoot and reload and with some it's detonating at the right time.

In case anyone's interested, specific weapons are better for specific things. When I'm not as interested in lots of loot I use a SAW and focus on the crystal and at the boss, I focus on baby or mama, and I get a heck of a lot of damage. But if I need ammo, well that's what the other bugs are for so I try and damage as many other bugs as I can for that ammo drop.

You could've just used search and then added your personal opinion to any one of the other two dozen or so threads about this same topic.

What you choose to see as griefing or ignorance, other people may view as working on their pursuits. It's a matter of personal opinion and nothing more. This is a multiplayer game and you do not get to dictate how other people choose to play their game. If you don't enjoy the multiplayer environment then perhaps you may wish to try a singleplayer game where you have more control.

In the meantime, I choose to "kill all of the things".

What ends up happening is you get a million people using rocket launchers or lobbers that do AoE damage and kill everything. You ask them to stop and explain why and they ignore you and keep on going. Sometimes you'll get the new guy who stops and doesn't realize it but 9 out of 10 times these players don't care and are only there to piss the other players off.

I have noticed teams of players and even guilds of players doing this together. If you are rocking a high damage Lobber and Rocket Launcher that rains down death and destruction, you've been playing the game long enough to know how to do each of the arkfalls besides the fact that EGO keeps annoyingly telling you how the ENTIRE arkfall.

I blame this on Trion, not the players. I *love* lobbers of various types. I *want* to be able to play the game with a weapon I like. And though I don't always do it, I *will* continue to use them when I feel like it during arkfalls. It's not my fault Trion goofed with the design of these events.

It's a trade off... play how I want, make the event take a little bit longer, and have people cry at me. Or pick a boring weapon, not have as much fun, and please everyone else around me. I'll go with the first one thank you. I play video games to have fun. So no, not everyone using these weapons is griefing or daft. Maybe they just want to play a videogame and have fun.

Like I said earlier the search didnt bring it up, they were having issues earlier when I started this thread. It took me 2 minutes to even see some of my posts, "post" to the forums and I was having a hard to logging into game. Secondly if you go to about page 3 or 4 I realized that I had acted a bit hasty and posted out of anger vs thinking about it.

Does my opinion still stand? Yes it does. I think it would be easier on everyone if they just waited 3 seconds for the skitterlings to open up a hole before going crazy and killing EVERYTHING they see. I dont care what you do when I am able to complete the objective and the OBVIOUS goal of the crystal. Its really that simple.

Have some respect for the players around you who arent there to get super high kills and just want to finish the arkfall.

To each their own opinion. If you look further back in the back logs for the forum threads... This topic has been covered more than just recently. As a result, don't expect it to ever change. Just keep smiling and deal with it. Case closed.

Folks, one of the dev's (Trick Dempsey) said in today's live stream on twitch that the issue about these arkfalls will be address and admitted it is a bad mechanic so there ya go. (I asked the question in the chat btw hehe)
