Community Strategies for Flying Hellbugs

Defiance Community,

I had a great time in the Beta & cannot wait for the 2nd of April.

Just looking to get a little community feedback before the game goes live on best strategies for taking out the flying hellbugs that shoot the explosives at you that slow you down upon detonation. During the mission to save the farm after linking up with Cooper & had a huge problem with the final part of the quest when I was swarmed with flying hellbugs and couldn't get clear before I died multiple times.

With a group working together they would obviously be manageable & they die to gunfire quite quickly, I just want opinions on how to take on multiple ones at a time if you happen to get swarmed while playing solo.

While it does not work all the time cloaking and ambushing them from behind before they get a chance to attack back seems to help other than that I have no idea cause they kill me quite a bit also.

shotgun to the face, with electrical dmg to stun em works nice for me

Obviously, shooting them until they fire, then rolling away to avoid the impact, is a sound tactic. However, multiples can be a problem. I often will sprint/rush one to take it out. If it fired, it will generally land behind you, and if you do enough damage while rushing it, you can finish it off with a stylish, jumping melee attack.

I always found just using my Assault rifle worked rather fine on them, same with the pistol. They seemed rather easy to kill for me and the only problem I would ever run into was always with the explosion and finding myself in the muck.

They go down within seconds with an LMG, Elite or not. Just Keep rolling as soon as you see them launch (Same with Hell Pods) and you'll be fine.

So far I've found LMG > All in terms of Damage / Rate of Fire / Ammo and Longevity. Best Weapon for doing maximum damage to a weak spot when they're shown for a short period of time.

invest into the perk that regenerates your Ego cooldown by 10%,20% then finally 30% when you take explosive damage.

Those flying bugs attack counts as an explosion and thus almost keeps your Ego skill available all the time.

Then spam spam spam your ego for the easy win.

This is awesome. 6 replies in less than 20 minutes. This is why this game has the potential to do well. Great community support. Thanks for the tips. One thing I need to add to my play style is the roll. I don't do it near enough. I favor assault rifles so roll/sprint/fire might give me the edge I need against them.

The roll is paramount for fighting the flying bugs. The slow effect they cause has NO effect on the speed of your rolls.

You can spam the roll and move just as fast as a sprint while pooped shoed.

I mapped the roll the center scroll mouse when i press it down. Works like a charm.
