[NA] downloading....patch 3 times now? The hell

Well nuts! Installed the latest patch and got the "critical" error. Restarted the game as per the suggestion and...
Now have to install! And of course patch once again, pants! May see you guys & gals online in a day or two or maybe three :-(

After dashboarding, I am seeing something new in the patch notes. It says " PLEASE NOTE: some users will encounter a "critical error" message while patching. Please restart the game and allow the patcher to go through the recovery process. Character data will not be lost as they are stored on our servers."

I also didn't have to reinstall patches afterwards.

That's been there since the last patch or two.

As of today it seems the issue is fixed for me yesterday loads of people had the same issue so hopefully you all can log on now w/o 30+min of patching everytime

I lack the patience to do the 1 hour patch (for me) before logging in everytime also because I got a lot of disconnects before the patch and after I first tried the patch only played for an hour maybe two before I got a disconnect. I am just going to wait until there is no more reports of others issues on here before trying again or when I have things to do round the house so I can turn a console on and let it do its thing. I worry if I go through it all again and still can't play Defiance I will give up. So it is safer for me to keep what vestige of enjoyment I get from the game and go play Borderlands 2 nd some other things for the next week or so or till Trion releases a statement about what is going on.
