Oh and my rig DOES meet the minimum system specs, by a good margin too
UI is fine, though someone had brought up something that did make sense. Their beef was they play on a much larger screen than the typical computer monitor and their health/shield amongst a few other things would be out of their eye vision because the screen is so large. This would be a problem for only a few lol not everyone has HUGE screens but, it makes sense to allow the option/ability to move around some of the stuff on the screen to put where you would like. That would give people that like it for most part to be happy, and the rest posed with similar problems as this other person mentioned to have a way around it. As for a complete reconfiguration of everything about the UI as a perm change, I personally think it would be out of the question. There is a lot of mmorpgs they could have went off of, but they chose this style. Personally it looks great, and once you scrub through it, not so bad. I'm lazy, but not THAT lazy that I think having to press a few more buttons or scroll down a bit more poses a huge perplexing problem to my overall game play.

Chat, well beta, we have yet to see what they will do. I do know they plan on having guilds? I already see people recruiting for guilds lol I didn't really bother looking at the chat for time being, though considering this is an mmo and the point is to play with other players this issue will probably be addressed or dealt with in the future. Whether that's ASAP, or not.

Your technical problems, get some tech support. This will be an issue that will be top priority the way I see it. It usually is. Meaningful player interaction? From my experience, when has there ever been any meaningful back and forth on games? MMORPGS, and FPS/TPS alike all have common things noticeable in chats etc, which usually includes stupidity. xP

Whether you are trolling people on chat, to tea-bagging someone upon victory. I wouldn't consider much of what goes on in games as meaningful interaction. xD I played the beta with my bf, and we'll likely be playing with our friends we invite to the game. That being said, we have and will be coordinating with one another via skype. Others who don't want to use an outside program have option to IG voice.

I don't see how people can base there entire opinion on a very small sample of an UNFINISHED GAME.

Besides the beta currently running is months old, 3 i think, and people complaining about bugs can stop worrying as most will be patched before release and weekly updates for the game will be rolling out.
Regardless of beta status, a beta build is representative of the final product in a number of ways. While bugs will be fixed, what will not be fixed are certain gripes people may have about the quality of the game, the provided content (or lack thereof in some people's opinions), and the overall style of the game. Some people don't like the third person camera, especially with the currently absurd field of view and sensitivity settings. It makes the game feel clunky and awkward to play, which is an entirely valid reason to not enjoy your time with the game. While I personally hope it will be fixed, Trion hasn't said anything about it.

Potential is not enough of a reason for many consumers to purchase a product. While many early adopters, or more affectionately known as fan boys/girls, can look past the flaws of the game, others cannot. Not everyone is a raving fan of Defiance, and that's okay, but you have to understand that not everyone can justify "potential" as a purchasing point.

You also have to consider many people don't care about that aspect. Just because people watch the show doesn't mean they will play the game, and that same logic applies in reverse. Simply because people play Defiance doesn't necessarily mean they care about how the show plays out. Some people are here because they want a game to play, and maybe they just don't like it.

I really don't understand why anyone should shame someone for canceling a pre-order. It's their money, they can do what they want with it. It's voting with your wallet. If Trion is smart they will figure out why those people cancelled their pre-orders, improve the game accordingly, and advertise at a later date to draw those players back in. I think it's ludicrous to make a thread for the sole intent of singling out a sect of the community who isn't a raving fan of the game. I think Defiance has plenty of good points to it, but I can totally understand why someone would not be interested in it.

The best thing people can do is provide constructive criticism and leave it at that.

Well said... what many also need to realize, is Defiance is rolling out their game in a time period where most economies around the world are pretty stuffed up and semi-crippled. Heck, I'm in the U.S. and am still riding out the fallout of the economy. Times are rough & tough; sure money might grow on trees for some, but a lot of us don't have those same bushels of trees... for many it's not as easy as it used to be tossing $60 with blind faith on a brand spanking new title. I still remember when my old roommate did that with Duke Nukem Forever (and DN3D was mad awesome, even, a proven franchise), and what a mistake that was.

The game now releases in 8 days; just a smidge over a week. Anybody who thinks the major hiccups/stutters/issues are going to magically be gone by that time, across three platforms, is deluding themselves. Be nice if there was a magical "easy button" like Staples advertises... but unfortunately, that's not the case. Many of us were hoping for a crown jewel... not a cubic-zirconia replica.

The BETA has bugs, you find one you report it, they fix it and then its all good. Things take time, there wont be an instant fix to everything in the game so be patient and if your thinking about cancelling your order then i would suggest not because your basing your opinion on old, unfinished work.

I personally found the BETA a very enjoyable experience so far and cannot wait for the game to be released, the world is huge and the amount of content that is planned to be released as DLC after launch is sure to be a real fun thing to look forward too.

There you go my rant over, but seriously why cancel your orders.
If you think that with one (ONE) week before official release they will somehow "magically" fix the issues that have been reported you are either naive or mentally incapable....up to you. While I had to miss the entire weekend due to stupidity between steams version and the beta version, I will log in on launch day and for some time after until I feel I've gotten my money's worth.

It's not magic. It's hard work.
They'll fix all the bugs they can in the time they have. Then the game will go live. They'll still be fixing bugs, and will release patches as they do so. That's how it works.

Hell, Planetside 2 practically broke itself with a patch for a few days. They fixed the issue, re-patched, and life went on. It's still a great game.

did you ever play the in the Rift beta's? Thats what i expect from a Trion's beta testing.. this games beta was far from it. As for what the OP said being a unfinished game... they have 2 weeks... thats alot of 24 hour days to get this game ready to launch.

After playing Defiance over the weekend I am on the fence on what I want to do. I do trust Trion as a company, I was very happy with Rift's release, content updates and fixes. If they can keep that up in Defiance I won't be let down like other companies have done to me.

I had a lot of fun in Defiance, but there are some things that worry me. Chat being the biggest issue and the PC version UI being the same as the console versions. Need a better chat system and an better UI.
I would hate to see PC users get the shaft because of the console side of the game.

I played another Beta over this last weekend also, Neverwinter. My god that was a mess! It was so boring and the graphics looked like something from 2004! Also not to mention it's from Cryptic/PWE 2 companies I know that love to nickle n dime ya to death.
