Haha i just left a game thats been around for 4yrs and they are still patching stuff from year1 lol! oh and i played the beta, and subscribed to the web site..just like im doing now, conversed with the devs...was asked to comment on gameplay mechanics, skill balance..just like what im doing now. They didnt have a tv show backing up the product like this, but again..i had no idea there was even a show till i read about it on the forums..thats how much i care about a show tie in...no biggie...

Again, all of this ive done a few times, faith isnt enough any more, present me with a beta 1 week from launch with a laundry list of problems, some are considered cardinal sins (Tps camera angles), i could care less about the potential, even though ive said there is some, but basically, the beta, was the main game minus a few glitches cleaned up.

Just have to give my input on this. PC players, I don't know how the situation holds, but for those of you who got to enjoy the console beta [or didn't enjoy, either way. It's your opinion] have to remember this isn't a build based on two weeks away. We got to test an older, unfinished build from three to four months back. Have they had more development time to fix bugs, issues, etc? Probably so, we really don't know, a few months is a huge time gap. If anything, what we really need to compare for those who are SKEPTICAL because of the BETA, truthfully, ought to look at the current / latest alpha builds, which are far more current to the release of the game, see the information within and judge it based on that.

Just my two cents, hopefully people will realize they were playing with an older build. DO correct me if the alpha build is identical though. This is just how I understand the case to be.

I do believe at points like this especially in regards to a console beta many of the issues in gameplay mechanics have been already addressed with what the developer already has done. I think it is more so for testing servers and catching anything else they might have missed themselves

It should come down to "Did you have fun"

I for one had a blast this weekend in the beta, despite the bugs, the game was a lot of fun and I barley scratched the surface....

I actually preordered the game about a month or so back just based off the trailers and game description

the massive ark events trailer pulled me in right away

looking forward to spending my hours killing mutants and other players with a multitude of different loadouts

Did I enjoy the beta? Yes.

Do I belive the game will be anywhere near finished condition at launch? Even with a 2 months old build, there is no way in hell even a fraction of the issues im seeing will be handled by the 2th.

Personally I will prob still by the game at launch out of curiosity, but I for one can totally understand why people would be cancelling, calling a "beta" this close to release a "beta" feels pretty inaccurate, its more of a stresstest / preview then anything else.

And it really does not do the game any favour as a preview.

Also for the poster, you speak about how your opinion is that the game is good, did you ever think that perhaps other peoples opinions differ from yours? which would be why people are cancelling.

You are not the only one entitled to opinions

Also, as for seeing only a small sample of the game, pretty sure thats incorrect, I would say seeing 1/3 of the game is a pretty big sample, and more then enough for people to create a accurate opinion of the game, and its current state.

Another thing, I see you saying that peoples should make suggestions how to fix bugs/issues rather then posting negative feedback.. really? the average joe gamer is not a game designer, and wouldn't have anywhere near the knowledge to make such suggestions, the best thing they can do is post that negative feedback, as descriptivly as possible.

Belive it or not, negative feedback is FAR more valueable to a game designer, then postive feedback will ever be.

First, let me say that I have NOT cancelled my pre-order and don't intend to.

I did enjoy the gameplay during beta. However, don't berate people who, based on their beta experience, have decided to cancel. Many may have found that the style of the game (heavy focus on fast paced action, 3rd person shooter, limited chat features) isn't right for them so of course they won't be playing it. Other's may have loved the playstyle and upgraded their pre-order.

We should all be grateful that Trion game us an opportunity to preview the game prior to commiting to fund it.

    Peace, out.

You say, "I would say seeing 1/3 of the game is a pretty big sample, and more then enough for people to create a accurate opinion of the game, and its current state."

But have we seen 1/3 of the game? Nope, we saw all of the starter zone (Mount Tam) and only part of the Madera zone. So we haven't even seen 1/3 of the world. And, we don't know how large the other zones are, or more importantly, how much fun is packed into those zones.

I wish I could remember if it was a post or a video, but someone actually Madara was a part of a second zone... which didn't make sense to me at the time, maybe they just meant the first after the starter... i dunno.

For me any MMO try starts after i reached the lvl cap. While Defiance does not have one, it will surely have a point in which you are ready for the 'endgame' challenging content.

Although I highly doubt that 1/3 of the content was released for beta, based off my personal experiences the first 1/3 of any MMO does not provide any real indication of how the endgame will be like. If indeed the beta was 1/3 of the whole game, some people managed to complete every main and side quest within 30 hours of game time. I highly doubt that Trion would release a game which they stated was more PvE focused to have it completed by 90 hours?

Madera IS the second zone, but Beta 3 didn't give us access to ALL of that zone.
