If they do crank out more DLC beyond this first one (yes, I know, they're supposed to, I've fallen from the pure faith of trusting gaming companies any more lol), they need to really pump it up. In my opinion the best thing they could do, besides bug fixes, is take some ideas from ArcheAge and apply them here to give the game some sandbox elements. It would make the various grinds seem worth it, especially if they incorporate some real open world PvP that involves player settlements going to war with each other.
Sandbox elements... hum... I would say more of the type of sandbox elements where you find in Second Life and even on STO where players can create their own mission, weapons, and basic content would be nice. Okay, that was the content developer in me talking. At least the missions would be nice. It would give people a change that they can implement themselves or share with others.

The open world PVP part though, I'm expressly against it, unless they officially come out with classifying this game as PVP only or creating a separate server for open world PVPers to play.

Most if not all of the 'issues' noted by the OP and others here that felt the need to hop on the band wagon are nothing new when it comes to an MMO. If you're new to MMO's then I can see why you would act as such, but I can't believe everyone of you here has never dealt with an MMO from it's launch and can still continue to gnash your teeth on these types of things EVERY TIME.

They are growing pain issues that every MMO has. Show me a single MMO that does not have these issues and I'll have another poster to add to the rose-coloured specs crew when it comes to the classic style of over exaggerating a problem in order to garner the sympathy of other like-minded posters.

I'm not going to rebut any of what's been said because at this point most of you are well beyond the point of changing your mind even if what I had to say made the most pristine sense ever. What I would hope and probably won't see is some of you taking a step back and realizing some if not most of the problems you encounter are probably you're own creation.

When I hear the QQ-fuss over content lack, I get to wondering if these examples aren't comming from a certain group that may have a lot of time on their hands. If you're able to donate 8+ hours a day to a game all the time, then yea, odds are you will never have a game that you feel has enough content - NEVER. When I hear about customer service dropping off I wonder if most of you ever took the time to track any MMO that went live b4. They almost always pull back on the CS a few months out of the gate because the issues that some have when getting account problems squared away dissipate. Why would they continue to waste money(that some of you complain about never going to the developement of content you want in the first place)in an area that no longer requires it. And by 'require it' I mean a full staff during alpha/release compared to a few months down the road.

I could continue to point out a lot of flaws with how the OP based most of their angst against the game but it's like trying to fight a subjective war with logic bombs. What's the point if Player 1 just keeps flipping the script in their favor.

If your upset in a game then fine, find another one - RESEARCH IT FIRST!!!!!! - and then give it a try, but enough of these "You'll miss me when I'm gone" speeches. Every single one I read creates a whiny-lil'-13yr-old-girl image in my head and it's hard to keep from rolling my eyes. Now impress me and let's see how long this thread goes b4 a well thought out comment that points out some of the shortcomings in your decision process ends up filed away under "Fanboi."

They already stated this game is NOT an MMO so anything that ahs to do with MMO debating there is none because it's not one.
As the devs from E3 already stated.

This thread is obviously from someone who took the time to post legitimate gripes, coming from a person that started as pro-Defiance and ended up being 'meh' on it. There are lots of these posts around, but not all of them are well written and rant free. I've played MMO's since Asheron's Call (and a few MUDs before then). I've been around gaming and MMO's for a long time. I played WOW the first week it launched. Lag was terrible, but the game had people salivating to play regardless because of what it offered. But to compare the two is apples to oranges; they are two entirely different beasts (MMORPG vs MMOFPS). But Blizzard dealt with it differently and you can see the outcome.

I played Defiance 4-5 hours a night when it launched...a number that dwindled as time went on. I don't have nearly 8 hours to game a day with a family and a demanding job. But in that time I was able to get to 2900 ego and finish all the content (twice). I think some defend the game because they aren't in the same position as some other gamers are. People who defend it might have just picked it up and are loving the game, as I did when I first got it. They might be super casual and only play one night a week and have lots of content left. Everyone has a different position based on where they currently are in the game. You obviously are digging the game and that is cool. Personally, I wish I still felt how you did. And like I said, this game has some good to it too (detailed environment, etc.)

People who post the "I'm leaving, take my stuff" posts are usually out for one of two things: attention for themselves or to give the middle finger on their way out. I'm sure Trion is monitoring daily traffic and logins to their game. That is the only true way to gauge continued interest. And that is something we will never be privy to. Posts on boards do nothing but give a vehicle for differing opinions. But when it comes down to it, people wouldn't be complaining as much if there wasn't anything to complain about. Gamers aren't creating these problems, they are just being vocal about the problems that already exist (and truly aren't being addressed as they should be). I'm curious how you will feel 2-3 months down the road. Maybe you will feel differently. Maybe not.

    Agreed OP.

In all honesty, i was in the same boat. But now after they refuse to answer my questions or respond to bugs being reported and FAIL to correctly access the situation.

We are being neglected solely on their business model "Scam customers and make money".

I was going to buy the DLC but i have retracted that decision, so they have lost my business for ever. They could make the best game int he world (Which i Doubt) and I would still never purchase a Trion product again.

Problem is they refuse to answer our questions and provide in depth information. **** their twitter posts.

    ZERO FUN
    ZERO SERVICE SUPPORT
    ZERO COMPANY

I hope their investors like Time Warner see these posts and drop them.

Agreed Sull, I'm a grad. student and well... sometimes have lots of time free to do things while other times are hectic. This game is really tailored it seems to the "Super Casual" as playing it daily 8+ hours a day it gets so monotonous that you really question why you are playing it at times. And this questioning sometimes probably makes people explode at this game and TRION. No offense to anyone, but its an objective observation noticed by all the posts on these forums that I've read.

In the end though, I've learned a lesson that my big sis and lil bro tried to teach me before. Pay attention to the forums and use that to do what I normally do. I normally go on to games play them then seeing how the game is, back out of it or keep playing. With this game, I did my part, not their part. I think that is part of the reason they didn't play the game as well, especially since knowing them they asked the GameStop people for advice on this game, and they said likely to stay away from it.

Anyways, I am not fully against or for the game any more until they fix a lot of the issues. I like the game as is, except the PVP crap, could do with out it all together and it wouldn't bother me at all. And this is coming from a person that was an assistant admin (type of GM) for another game that was RP-PVP related and who at that time enjoyed fair PVP playing. Probably would enjoy PVP here if it was fair, but oh well... In the end though, I really don't have as high of expectations anymore for this game, but I think what keeps me playing it is to see if they will ruin the game further or actually make the game better. However, even I play it like a lot less lately, although that may change.

Ouch... and yeah I'm pretty sure some how word gets back to Time Warner and other companies about this company and their handling of Defiance game. From my experience, it is generally how word spreads about the bad games and shows that makes them take notice. Although, Time Warner and the other investors won't drop them because of RIFT and potentially any other game they are working on right now.

However, I'll add this and no I'm not fanboy'ing Defiance, but sticking up slightly for TRION, they still got time to make it better. And I totally urge them to make the game better and have more developers and moderators keep the community in the loop. Then maybe this game can become as great as CoD or as fun as some people had with TERA, which at one point had no endgame content at all and was boring to say the least.

Well i like your persistence to stay but that will not sway me and hopefully others. The time to save this game has past.

With the latest update reducing ways to collect key codes is comeplete harrasment from Trion.

Why did they do this you ask?

SO YOU WILL BUY BITS TO PURCHASE BOXES!

The company is a legitimate scam artist company. Companies like this will continue to rake in the dough with sh!tty games until the gaming community stands up and fights for their rights and Justice.

I have heard to many horror stories on people loosing boosts from the defiance store. I will be honest Im one of them who lost a item to have received a item saying they will not refund me.

    B/S!

*nods* I can understand that Qmarkball. It would be the same way as well if that had happened to me, which thankfully it hasn't yet.

People said similar things in SWTOR of their accounts being locked, and of losing items to never have them returned. Eventually to correct something like that from happening Bioware implemented a collections system for people to use. If you get items, or outfits (for outfits has to be all the pieces) and wear or use them, then they become available in the collections. You can then have those items redelivered to that character indefinitely or do like I and others did and unlock them for account wide use no matter the server you are one. It saves a lot of money and hassle with customer service.

I have a question though, being a person that never played Rift. Is TRION any better on RIFT before the F2P switch or was it just as bad? Has it changed since the F2P switch?

@ Elric1 ---> Link your source. I already know what it will be and your usual style of slanting information to make you stance more stable will be shown in said Link.

    @ Sull
It's just hard to come away form certain comments like "not enough content" when ya' know more often than not the poster is probably using some form of selective acceptance criteria when gauging what is and isn't "content." I personally read dunno' how many times where a poster implies the game was beaten by the time they got to 350 Ego. Of coarse if you ask them they reply with "I didn't bother with the side missions and any of the pursuits." To them it was just the main mission arc and everything else is inconsequential. The content is still there, but they choose to ignore it when forming their opinion on why the game fails for them. To me, that's a self created problem, not a lack of content problem.

    @ Qmark
That's a whole lotta' supposition going on in your comment. Good luck with that. >.>
