Ben (the Indogene who exploded the shield generator before the Volge attack) also had silver blood. When Nolan found the blood he specifically noted it was Indogene.

edit: I see your point now. Infiltrator models > red blood.

Right, because Ben was an Indogene. All Indoegene have blue/silver blood. The reason the Astronaut guy had blue/silver blood was because he was an Indogene that was physically altered to resemble the human Astronaut as well as given his memories. However he was an early attempt, and at that point the Indogene scientists hadn't been able to get the blood to change appearance. Nicki, and possibly (it was never confirmed) Mr. Birch, were also Inogene's altered to look like humans. However, unlike the Astronaut, they were very likely later versions, after the scientists figured out a way to make the blood change in appearance, which is why Nicki, and possibly Birch, had red blood.

I want to think that Nicky/Nikky (which one is it) had the forethought to PLANT the red blood on the pillow and on her finger. Which would make her more awesome than she already was.

I will miss her I liked her as an adversary.

Yeah it would be better to think she planned it in advance, or had it ready as a contingency type plan. Its just more convenient for the Mr. Birch = Indogene theory if they both were advanced versions with red blood.

I think they killed her off too soon! It should have been a final episode twist type death imo >_<

**Spoilers in here, don't read if you don't want to know** There I said it, so nobody can complain to me later

Oh I agree! They kill people off far to much in the show I think. At first it wasn't bad but now it's a game to guess who's going to die in this episode. I was mad when Sukar died and Birch but then when they killed off Nicki/Nicky/Nikki(?!?!?!) I just got fed up with it. I'm having a hard time seeing Doc Yewell step into crazy mayor lady's shoes and being the lead for that plot. Yewell seems to be trying to turn off a new leaf and be a good guy, so for her to flip and go bad guy will just be aggravating. Especially because she killed the bad guy she'd be replacing to stop the bad guy from doing what she was going to do that Yewell would then be doing as the new bad guy. Oi, my head hurts now!

And I liked Crazy Mayor Lady as a bad guy too. Mostly because I didn't see it coming. So far my favorite (non-main) characters have been her, Sukar, Rathus, Birch and Connor Lang. Thing in common? They're all dead now! ARG!

Yeah, but now we see that Yewll was tied into it and now has the ark tech, so might be she picks up where the ex-mayor left off. Also, E-Rep is still way too interested in Defiance, so I'm sure they're more than suspicious something's there.

From the bits and bobs from Trenna and the crew Doc is trying to "better her life" and fit in. My thought is someone will steal it from her at some point. Perhaps the E-rep.

Is it E-rep or EREP? The EREP on the uniforms looks silly "EEEE EEERRRP!"

Yeah, she's trying to better her life, but she keeps getting sucked back in, as shown by here saying she doesn't want to kill anyone (or something to that effect) while she's killing Nicki.

Right now she has the tech, and the only other person who knew of it's existence thinks it's been destroyed (okay, one other person, but he's off in the badlands looking for a mother who may or may not still exist). If she really did want to better herself, she would have destroyed it right away, like she told Nicki to do an episode or two earlier, not hid it. Makes me think she's starting to reconsider some things. Hell, I even saw the forged suicide note as more of a Yewll self confessional (just no one knows it).

It looks like the writers are setting up his return since Nicky was not the main brains and didn't set up the attack by herself. Mr. Birch might be dead but if he is an Indogene like Nicky, we have seen that death is just a minor annoyance for the Indogene. A choking and being thrown into a mystical terraformed molten river could be the catalyst for something more evil to return. I am not expecting he will be in town but I do see Mr. Birch coming back to wreck havoc. After all, without the mayor, who will be the big bad of the next season? I can see Mr. Birch returning at some point to continue as the enigmatic character behind the scenes doing nasty stuff.
Datak wins the mayor's race, does some shifty things but only for half a season then somehow relinquishes it or loses it outright.

Doc becomes a bigger role to replace the hole in Nicky's character (which is only natural) and even though she tries to change, she's going to return to her role trying to extract the alien mysteries in the mine. The writers are not simply going to abandon the mine stuff since they almost wasted a whole first year setting up the story that 'something evil/wonderful is down there' and killing off Nicky and Birch doesn't really mean anything. Besides, Rafe knows about the stuff in the mine as well, and where's the son been at last two weeks?

But I don't see Birch coming back.. he wasn't particularly scary, evil or even menacing enough to be a bad guy for my tastes (people scared of Abraham Lincoln without a beard?).

Datak has a large role but it has to be bigger to fill the hole. The E-rep still want their right of way so that figures into a lot of episodes (don't forget about the ambassador either). Then there's that bounty hunter they let go; I say they should make him turn on Nolan for what Nolan did to him and it would make for a natural fit with the Erep... or...he could also lead the people looking for Nolan to town, which is what he threatened to do anyways. See how many holes are in this storyline that can be tugged at?

Really, this show has been written so poorly and went all over the place after one year that they can still go in ANY direction they want. Bringing dead people back will be dumb and about the coward's way out as a writer is concerned.. even if alien tech makes it possible.

Ooo good call about the note!

I have a feeling Quentin's mother ISN'T really what Nicky said she was and might have a bigger role to play in Season 2 (or the game). She was competition for Nicky, she would get rid of her by any means. This show is good at twists, but if they KEEP doing them then we will only expect one and a simple solution could be under our noses and we will never see it.

Why I wonder about Doc and why she wants to better herself. lol They make my head spin.
